Practical Works
About

We're two engineers who want to help you level up your AI game.

Practical Works is a two person studio that runs structured AI assessments for small businesses with 5 to 50 employees. We come from operations, software, and the trenches of owning a service company. Not from a slide deck.

Who's behind it.

Julissa Cotillo

Co-founder, Practical Works · Product engineer · 10 yrs in software

Economics background, data driven product engineer. She runs the assessment framework: clear problem framing, measurable outcomes, and the math behind every recommendation.

Alan Campbell

Co-founder, Practical Works · Operator · multi-time founder

Spent years turning messy reality into systems that run. He pressure-tests every recommendation against the question: would this actually survive a Tuesday at a real small business?

Why we're qualified: we ran Breezy Keys, a vacation home management company in Tampa Bay. We learned the hard way that systems beat heroics and that the best AI suggestion is usually a cheap off the shelf tool plus an hour of cleanup, not a custom agent. That's the lens we bring to every assessment.

What we're good at.

Operations & Workflow

A decade running a real services business taught us how small teams actually break: messy CRMs, manual reporting, lost leads. We map the mess before recommending a tool.

AI Engineering

We build with the current generation of LLM tooling daily. We separate what reliably works from the demo-ware that wastes your money.

ROI in Dollars

Every recommendation comes with the math: hours saved per week, monthly tool cost, and net ROI. Quick wins first, big bets second.

Off-the-shelf First

Custom builds are a last resort. If a cheap off the shelf tool solves it, that's what you're getting, not a six month project.

How we work.

01Workflow before AI
02Quick wins beat moonshots
03Show the math, every time
04Off-the-shelf first, custom last
05Documentation that gets used
06Ship in 48 hours, not 48 weeks
